Wanna' Hear a Tip? // MyStampBox

Wanna' Hear a Tip?

Sharing up a great tip, "punching it up with your stamps" in using punches from your stash + the fabulous MyStampBox stamps!  This technique can be used in making cards, layouts, etc and a great way to blow the dust off your punches!

1. Select two colors of cardstock.  Use the punch of your choice (I chose a 1" and 2" circle punch because I'm using the Seal It stamp set which has lots of circle stamps).

2. Using your choice of punches, punch where you choose on the cardstock.   Note:  Save the punched out circles since you will use these later in the steps below. Next, I chose the set Graphic Borders to use as a background behind one of the circles.

3.  Use your choice of stamp from the Seal It set and stamp in the middle of the 2" circle punched in your cardstock.

4.  Using the Graphic Borders set, select the border of choice and stamp onto your cardstock as shown.  Only a partial stamping of the border is needed since you will cover up the excess stamping with the layer of cardstock on top.

5.  Layer the second cardstock on top and now you have a very cool effect.  As noted in Step 2, I use the punched out circles for more fun stamping with the Seal It set as shown above.  You can mount the punched circle with pop dots for a bit of dimension.

6.  Embellish the rest of your card as desired with bling, stitching, brads, stickers, etc.

Tutorial: Canvas Fabric Flowers + Smooch Spritz ~ Wendy Morris

Hello Hello!  Wendy here and I'm excited to share up this fun tutorial to make canvas flowers using Canvas Fabric + Smooch Spritz!  I'm going to demo with you a technique to make these cool flowers + share several bonus techniques too! :)

As my base paper for the layout, I used the Spring in Bloom collection which is so timeless & full of beautiful papers & embellishments.  Such a great collection to use as a tribute in honor & gratitude of my mother (aka "moma"), Josie.  She is my icon of strength, love, beauty, faith, and support.  She stood by my dad through thick & thin until his final days of battling cancer and a rock in marriage of 49 years.

Step 1:  So, let's get started with this project!  Grab up some lightweight canvas fabric from your local craft/fabric store.

Step 2:  Cut a strip of canvas 2" x 20" (be generous with the length since you will use a bit to twist & spiral your flower in the steps below).  Place the canvas strip inside your Color Catcher (a great gadget for catching all the Smooch-i-ness) :-)

Step 3:  Now grab some colors of your favorite Smooch Spritz and let's start spritzing.  I used a couple of colors - Mixed Berries, Majestic.  However, you can choose more colors & feel free to layer them up.

Note:  If you flip over the canvas strip, you will see the different effect of the spritz on the opposite side.  This will be a neat effect when you start twisting & spiraling your flower.

Step 4:  Feel free to use a heat tool to speed up the drying process.

Note:  You can also use Smooch Spritz on your favorite lace.  I have some antique lace in my stash and the Spritz does a beautiful effect.  You can also make your flower out of lace instead of canvas fabric or combine the two types on your project.

Step 5:  My new "best friend in crafting" is Cosmo Cricket Glubers.  What are Glubers?  Well, basically, a huge glue dot PERFECT for making these lovely fabric flowers.  You can also use the tried & true heat gun but Glubers avoid burnt fingers :)

Cut out the Gluber of choice from the sheet.

Step 6:  Now we are ready to start twisting & spiraling our flower.  Tie a knot at one end of canvas strip and anchor to center of Gluber.

Step 7:  Twist & spiral, repeat, repeat...until you are at the end of the strip/desired size of flower.  Trim off excess of flower not used.  Anchor final end of strip to Gluber.

Step 8:  Voila!  Now you have your finished flower!  Use non-sticky scissors to trim away excess of Gluber not used.

Step 9:  Carefully peel off Gluber backing to expose stickiness & attach to project as desired.

BONUS Technique:  Cut out a calendar section from GCD Donna Salazar Designs Artistic Papers Calendar.  I used my favorite masking tools + Smooch Spritz for the following.  Tear & curl edges of the calendar & add a bit of stamping (if desired).

BONUS Technique:  Grab up a stash of chipboard flower pieces and use Colorbox Fluid Chalks & Colorbox Archival Dye Ink, Clearsnap Smooch Paint, spray paint, etc. to "color" your chipboard.  Fast & cool way to alter up chipboard!  I used colors that coordinate with the Spring Bloom collection.

Once dry (dries quite instantly), I layered the chipboard flowers & adhered to layout, as shown.

BONUS Technique:  I used distress crackle paint to apply to angel wings.  Allow to dry completely.

You will see the paint start to crack on its own in the drying process.  I prefer to not use a heat tool to speed up the drying.  I seem to get better results in "not watching the pot boil" :) and letting it dry on its own.

I sanded the edges a bit with a sanding tool/sandpaper & inked with a bit of Colorbox Fluid Chalks.  Some of the crackle paint flaked away in the sanding and I loved the instant aging effect.  I added a touch of my favorite crystal laquer to seal the paint from flaking more.

BONUS Technique:  While the crystal lacquer was still wet, I sprinkled a little of Fairy Dust.  Allow to dry completely.  Then, attach to project as shown.

BONUS Technique:  Cut out some from the Spring in Bloom collection.  I used these flowers mounted on pop dots to cluster & layer along with the chipboard flowers.

Voila!
the finished project where I added some additional stamping, a quote from Crafty Chronicles, & embellishments!
